Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is one of the premier conservation and education-based gardens in the world.
It has field programs in over 20 countries including support to protected areas. Fairchild is dedicated to native plant conservation in South Florida. They hold countless events such as, the International Mango Festival, the International Orchid Festival and the International Chocolate Festival. They have a beautiful butterfly garden, Wings of the Tropics, which holds over 40 species of exotic butterflies from all over the world. This exotic garden offers numerous collections and exhibits along with a list of living plants and a separate list of “What’s Blooming” on that particular month. They occasionally showcase the Chihuly Collection – blown glass artwork by Chihuly (see my previous post for Chihuly at Fairchild). Spend the day at Fairchild and take a picnic basket or stop by one of their cafes or restaurants. Hop on one of their trolley’s if you don’t want to make the walk or take a stroll at your own pace. This is a great place for a date, family event, work get together, or to roam around on your own. Whichever way you choose to spend your trip, it’ll be a good one.
